| 'G.M. Film' is the production company for short films made by London-based director and animator Martin Pickles. | |
| It was named after his first fully-funded short film G.M. which is an acronym for Georges Melies, the French fantasy film pioneer. Many of these films feature actor Neil Edmond and some are collaborations with Australian cinematographer John Adderley. You can see John, Neil and Martin at work on The Time Travellers Of 1908 in the clips below. | |
| Most of the 'G.M. Films' are inspired by silent cinema from the 1890s to the late 1920s, particularly from the Edwardian era. As such they are picture- rather than dialogue-driven and sometimes shot on hand-cranked cameras. Century's End, The Time Travellers Of 1908, Split Screen and Cable Car are the most 'Edwardian' in feel. G.M., The Commuter and Camera Obscura are inspired by early Surrealist films. | |
